    Subtotal issues (XP & 2003)

Is there a methodology to obtain two subtotals from two variables from the "subtotal" function, such as "employee total" and "dept total". For instance, the objective would be to achieve a total for each employee within each dept, and a total for each dept.

    Thanks

One more question on the subtotals. in the example, is there a way to bring down the respective region name on the same line as the salesmen total with out a copy /paste situation on a salesman by salesman basis?

Although the procedure works fairly good. I found some incorrect positioning. the attached shows that there is an inconsistency for sub totals in labor depts 1012wm,1013wa,1013wp &1014wp. This starts when the labor dept has one person in it. the the sub total for the dept and the employee switch positions and it follows with depts subsequent to this, even if the subsequent dept includes more that one employee. Any way around this anomaly.

Yuck! In order to correct another bug with subtotals, Microsoft introduced a new one. It is described in MSKB article Multilevel subtotals are in the wrong position in Excel 2002 and in Excel 2003. You can remove the new bug and restore the old one by adding a registry entry. It works - I tried it just now. You'll have to remove the subtotals and create them anew.
