Disabling User Accounts (Vista Home Premium)

I try this, and secpol.msc cannot be found.

Is there another process available to achieve the same thing?

Subsequent to posting the above, I found a freeware program - TweakUAC.exe from www.tweak-uac.com which seems to achieve the task. Hopefully, it is not secretly malicious.

With great reluctance I'll offer you the simplest way to disable the UAC and with the disclaimer that doing so you accept full responsibility for your action.

1. Control Panel > User Accounts
2. Click, "Turn User Account Control on or off"
3. Uncheck the box for, "User User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer.
3. DONE

Thank you - but that's a total disabling.

The procedure in Woody's book (which may only apply to the Ultimate Version of Vista) - and what TweakUAC provides - is an intermediate setting for Administrative accounts.

I agree with Jeff, you are asking for trouble, as many different parts of Vista will NOT perform as expected and you will be subjected to unwanted installs from questionable sites and or software.

As you discovered, you can't disable UAC for administrator accounts by the "secpol.msc" method. In this Windows Secrets Newsletter , Mark Edwards states that this method is unavailable for users of Vista Home Basic or Home Premium. He reveals a registry edit to accomplish the same thing however. This is probably the same method used by TweakUAC, only TweakUAC does it automatically for you.
