Advantages of moving from Office 2000 (2000)

At my company we develop Office based applications and because our customers use Office from Office 2000 - Office 2007 we develop our applications (COM addins, enhanced Word and Excel templates) to work with those versions. This keeps us from making use of the latest features in later version of Office and I have been asked to write up the advantages of encouraging our customers to upgrade from Office 2000 to at least Office XP (our customers are CPA and they don't upgrade from something that already works for them). I would appreciate any ideas I can use. Thank you.

    Jim,

One of the things that I see as a reason to move is the anti-junkware component of Outlook.

Sadly, nothing very significant comes to mind for Word or Excel. Outlook and PowerPoint have improved considerably since Office 2000. And no one should go from 2000 to XP at this point; they might as well skip at least to 2003.

I'd strongly recommend that you look at Office 2007. I've been using it since it was released to businesses in Nov. 2006. I'd not like to go back to a prior version. With a simple <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> addin you can save documents as PDF or XPS file. The new ribbon UI changes really make a difference once you get used to them. Start at Office Online Home Page - Microsoft Office Online and look at the Get Help, Get Started, and Get More sections for additional information.

I agree with Joe. I too have been using for quite a while. Since they are CPA's you might want to tell them about this increased Excel spread sheet size.
    Thanks John
