    Slipstream disk (WinXP SP2)

I tried to create a slipstream CD incorporating SP2 into my base WinSp+SP1 CD. I carefully read a number of sites on this process and followed instructions exactly. I can read the new CD in the drive and it looks good and the same as the original except for the new libraries and files. However, when I tried to run it, I get through part of the normal Windows setup (so it can read the CD), then eventually get this error msg:

"Setup could not read the CD you inserted, or the CD is not a valid Windows CD"

"Please insert one of the following Window's product CD's into the CD-ROM drive: blah, blah, blah.

Anyone here have any clues as to what I should look for to try and fix this prior to cutting another CD?

I'd suspect that there was an error in the creation of the CD. For a very easy way to slipstream SP -2 see AutoStreamer 1.0.33 - Neowin Forums.

I'll take a look at the link.

But I can read the CD and clearly Windows setup can also, because it gets into setup a ways before it finally issues the message. I'm just not sure where to look.

I suspect a file got trashed. I doubt anyone here can shed any light on what the exact problem is. You're better off trying to recreate the CD.

If you properly integrated SP-2 into XP i386 folder (using update.exe with -s: switch), in the root of your CD you must see WIN51IP.SP2 file (2 bytes in size).
    Do you see it?
Do you see also WIN51 and WIN51IP files ?
