    Borders disappear (2000 SR-1)

This is an odd little item, I think. I have solid borders around all cells (that's how my Book.xlt is formatted.) Sometimes when I'm entering data then hit Enter, the bottom border disappears, to be replaced by Excel's normal gridline. There's no discernible pattern as to when it happens. I didn't see anything in the MS Knowledge Base about it. I've attached an example file. Thanks for any and all opinions!

Jim, your attachment did not stick, so maybe you could re-attach. When you print the document, is th ebottom border in place ? I assume it does not happen as a result of pasting values.

Right, Andrew, I see it when I'm just typing data and pressing the Enter key, and not all the time. It prints the regular gridline, just as it is displayed. We'll try the attachment again here.

    Jim,

I had a look at your workbook, but cannot replicate the problem, although there are cells without borders. I cannot offer any explanation.

I do notice however that in your print set up you have gridlines set to print. I would think that as you have borders set you do not need to print gridlines.

Good point about the print setup. I'll change that. Thanks for checking, Andrew! <img src=/S/bow.gif border=0 alt=bow width=15 height=15>

Sounds to me like a display issue - how is the memory on your system and what OS are you using?

Hi, Catharine. This is my PC at the hospital - Windows 2000, build 2195. 256 MB memory, plenty available from what My Computer reports. I have to leave now (1641 CDT) and will check back in the morning. Thanks.

Catherine, I was thinking along the same lines, but the borders definitely disappear, as can be seen if gridlines are switched off, both for the display and the printer.

It's just one of those weird that probably cannot be replicated, and is down to some local condition.
