    Vista Activation (Home premium)

Have been using Vista for a couple of weeks with no problems - today error message 0 X C004D401 which is apparently an Activation issue. The product was activated on install and have had no trouble. Any Ideas.

    Re: Vista Activation (Home premium)

The link indicated 3 possible items that may cause this problem - i do have one being Spyware Doctor, however, as the link indicated the makers had fixed the issue in late 2006. Additionally, this product updates itself everyday so I feel this was not the cause. It has been on the computer since the Vista install without any hiccups. I did eventually reboot and as was expected the problem had disappered. Not sure where to now.

"Additionally, this product updates itself everyday "

This product updates everyday not itself, but its spyware database. If you use Spyware Doctor v.4, try to upgrade to v.5, despite it is still in beta. Spyware Doctor's webpage states that only v.5 is fully Vista-compatible, and v.4 has only "basic support for Windows Vista

Thanks for the info - what you say appears to being part of the cause of the problem.
