Your Device Manager

    1) Right click My Computer
    2) Properties
    3) Hardware Tab
    4) Device Manager

Clck Universal Serial Bus Controller. If it says USB Root Hub it is 1 if it says PCI USB 2 it is , [erm], USB 2

USB 1.1 is now obsolete but if the DM does not say Enhanced it will be 1 or 1.1 ...eh?

    Re: Test USB?

Correct. But 0.1 is a significant proportion of 1, and the only USB 'down-level' messages I can ever remember having seen mention 1.1...

    Being that the question was

Is there a way to test if ones USB's are USB 1.00 or USB 2.00

No mention of 1.1 there but I am correct.

To save being sidetracked further, for 1.1, it will depend from hardware to hardware as some of them will actually define this in the message within the DM.

    Re: Test USB?

    Wikipedia says:

On Microsoft Windows platforms, one can tell whether a USB port is version 2.0 by opening the Device Manager and checking for the word "Enhanced" in its description; only USB 2.0 drivers will contain the word "Enhanced."

    Probably identical to your suggestion?

    John

PS Right at the bottom of the Wikipedia article is the Version History.

    Re: Test USB?

If you have a mixture of 1 and 2, USB will run at the lowest speed, i.e. as USB 1 or 1.1.
