    best way to reformat

This is probably an easy question- what is the best way to reformat and reinstall WinNT 4.0? I am turning my current machine over to someone new and I want to give them a "fresh" machine that is running well.

    Thanks very much! Jennie

Of course, you will need the Windows NT CD. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

I would recommend getting a DOS boot floppy somewhere, and formatting it that way. Once formatted copy the contents of the CD's i386 directory and anything from the CD root to the hard drive, and run setup from the local hard drive (it will be much faster that way).

Make sure that you have at least service pack 4 handy, or a way to connect to a network or the Internet for downloading it. Nearly everything for NT requires SP3 or higher, and 4 seems to be the least commmon denominator.

You can obtain the required bootdisks from <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.bootdisk.com>www.bootdisk.com</A>

    Hope that helps!
