indows System Error (Win XPP (Sp2))

I have an HP Pavilion dv5000, on the top left is the power button. I can press this once, and the laptop goes into standby. Lately however I get a Windows System Error, that says "Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API".
What does that mean and what can I do about it?
    Thanks John

Yes it does. only I downloaded and installed that easily on my PC which has a Gig of RAM even though I rarely if ever put that into hybernation. I tried to install the same on my laptop which has 2Gig's of RAM and it said that the SP version that I have was newer than the download and it wouldn't install. Funny thing is though both computers automatically update automatically at the same time every week?
    Thanks John

Check to see how mus disk space you have for Hibernation. Habernaition must copy every thing that is running to the HARD DRIVE, it does NOT matter how much RAM you have, it is dish space and the amount set a side for the files to be copied.

Ok I know I should know where to look for that, but the mind is clouded. Where?

Hiberfil.sys is located in the root of your boot drive and must be as big as the amount of memory you have installed. I don't recall if just turning hibernation off will delete the file. But you should be able to delete it or just re-boot after turning hibernation off and it should be gone. Then just turn hibernation back on to re-create the file at the correct size.

    Thank Dave and Joe.
I looked in the power options and saw that I had 2047 of space which matches the amount of memory, I unchecked that and rebooted. All seems to be well again.
    Thanks John
