    Capturing Attached Template (2003 SP2)

    I'm trying to capture information that appears in the interface, but not through VBA...

    If I create a document on the network using a workgroup template, the attached template in the Templates/Add-ins dialog box is "Crogram filesworkgroupcorrespondenceletter.dot" (The path to the workgroup templates in Location of files is Crogram filesworkgroup, and there are 3 subfolders under this folder.)

    If I then open the document over Citrix, where the mapping is different and the workgroup templates are now located at "Qrogram filesworkgroup," the document *almost* finds the template. If I look in Templates/Add-ins, it displays the original path (and not normal.dot). Manually, I can change the C to a Q and the connection is made and toolbars and macros become available.

    I'm trying to find a way to do this automatically as the file is opened.

    I can't touch normal.dot, so I am looking at code Hans posted at <post#=617443>post 617443</post#> and trying to find a way to reconnect. This would work both ways -- a document created on the network and opened on Citrix, and a document created on Citrix and opened on the network.

    Is there any way to simply capture and manipulate the text in the Templates/Add-ins dialog box? If I use ActiveDocument.AttachedTemplate, VBA returns normal.dot, but if I could just grab that text...

    Thanks,
    Kim

    Does

    Dialogs(wdDialogToolsTemplates).Template

    return the text you need?

    YES!

    Now, how did you know that? Template was not one of the listed properties for that dialog box!

    Never mind! Thank you for knowing and sharing! <img src=/S/clapping.gif border=0 alt=clapping width=19 height=23>

    It's no secret: the arguments for built-in dialogs can be found in the VBA help if you're handy, and also here: Built-in Dialog Box Argument Lists.

    You're being modest.

    I can be pretty handy, but not this time. You saved me a lot of trouble.

    Best,
    Kim
