    Videos do not play (PP2003)

I tried to insert a clip (mpeg and wmv) into PowerPoint. The computer is a Dell laptop (XP). I get a black box where the image is supposed to be. And yet, as I am writing this post, I've tried other mpeg and wmv files and they play perfectly. What could cause an mpeg or wmv to show a black box? Thank you very much.

Is <post:=482,420>post 482,420</post:> (in reply to an old question by you) relevant here?

Edited by HansV to probide link to MSKB article

    Dear Hans,
Thank you so much for your quick (5 minutes!) response. I checked out everything. The problem was that the name of the movie file and the name of the PP presentation exceeded 128 characters. The article from Microsoft (<!mskb=841022>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 841022<!/mskb>), addresses this. This shows that the file names must be kept short even if the path is not long. I changed the names of the movie file and the presentation and the problem was solved.
    Thanks again!
