    Importing Hierarchy? (MSO 2003)

What is it if my Outlook is taking some time to start up, and I see "Importing Hierarchy" on th status bar?

I tried Google but came up empty...

    Which add-ins have you installed?

    Hans:

Attached is the listing that was generated by NirSoft's Add-In Manager...

The lashBack is a Spam handler; The Sperry add-ins are for duplicates in Contacts and Addresses and emails; The rest are MS's doing during install of Office 2003 or the Contact Manager.

I've gotten this message before using Lashback (recent addition), and for that matter Sperry, as it was just installed recently as well...

I'd seen this message some time back, but let it pass at the time...

Now that I'm trying to use Google as a solution/info provider, I thought I'd try to resolve it, as it delays startup by about 10-15 seconds.

    1) I'd disable all add-ins to see if the porblem disappears. Then enable them one by one. The moment the problem reappears, you'll know which one is the culprit.

    2) You don't need Outlook to use Google - you can search Google in your web browser.

I did so (Tools/Options/Other/Advanced...) But the "downloading heirarchy" still shows... It doesn't, however, in Safe Mode. So you're right, it's gotta be something else... Could it be the Contact Manager?

    Hans:

    OK, thanks anyway...

This is just the type of thing that breeds my incessant "meddling" with my system -- incessant curiosity to understand the various on-goings of the more involved software, of which, of course, Outlook is one...

    Hans:

    It's the Contact Manager.

Once I uninstalled it, the "Updating hierarchy" went away.
