Security of linked odbc tables (Access 2003)

We have an argument in my office:
We need to set up a database that links to some Oracle files. They are read/write. My user wants to set up security in Access. I say make the Oracle files read only or give users read only access. Is it even possible to set Oracle tables to read only in Access?
    Which way should we go?
    Thanks for any advice

I never use Oracle, but I'd think you should set up security in Oracle, not in Access.

Thanks, Hans. I will insist on our IT department doing just that.
