    make default 'NOT Link to Previous' in header (2003)

    The title says it all. Is there a way to tell normal.dot [or some other option area] that headers at section breaks are NOT linked to the previous header. 'Twoud make my life a lot simpler, as the main purpose of the section breaks is to change the numbering system.

    No, that is not possible. Each time you add a new section, its headers and footers will default to "Same as previous".

    You could run the following macro. It will unlink *all* headers and footers in the active document.

    Sub UnlinkHeadersFooters()
    Dim sec As Section
    Dim hf As HeaderFooter
    For Each sec In ActiveDocument.Sections
    For Each hf In sec.Headers
    If hf.Exists Then
    hf.LinkToPrevious = False
    End If
    Next hf
    For Each hf In sec.Footers
    If hf.Exists Then
    hf.LinkToPrevious = False
    End If
    Next hf
    Next sec
    End Sub
