    Group Policy to install software

I have tried installing both Acrobat Reader 8 and the new Quicktime via Group policy and nothing happens and nothing appears in the eventviewer. I have the .msi's for both programs, I can use those msis to install the software outside of GP but when I restart the computer nothing happens. I have an ou, put in my test computer, set it to assign the installation to the computer. Any ideas?

I may be the only one here who doesn't understand what you're trying to do and why and if so, I'll quickly bow out and get out of the way. What OS are you running and WHY are you trying to install two routine pieces of software by way of the Group Policy Editor?

Our DOmain Controller is Windows Server 2003 and our workstations are Windows XP. We have appoximately 500 computers that need this installation.

Aha, I see says I. Like I said, I'll bow out now as I don't know this answer. Hang in for someone who does...

Have you tried this on a PC that does not have Reader or Quicktime installed at all? Maybe what you need to do is redeploy the package.
