Hyperlink to Folder (2003 (SP2))

Been a while since I've used Powerpoint & tried to assign a hyperlink, on a text box, to a folder on the network.

OK I'd forgotten about spaces in the path, but got that sorted.

What I'd like to know is; can the resulting opening of the folder be defaulted to a window without the folder hierarchy, showing on the left?

In Windows XP, you always get an Explorer bar on the left, so if you don't show the folder tree, you'll get the actions you can perform. I don;t think you can turn off the Explorer bar altogether.

Setting the default action for a folder to Open instead of Explore doesn't seem to affect hyperlinks, so I don't know how to get what you want. Perhaps someone else will have a suggestion.

OK, thanks Hans.

I wondered if this was the case, but you never know

Bacon'n'eggs

I've had a little play around with exporer 'switches'

This worked for me

on your textbox, right click it and choose "action settings"
on a mouse click choose 'run program'
in the run program box enter this

explorer.exe /n

OK

Then during your slideshow if you click the text box, you will get the obligatory (this link may contains viruses harm your computer and start lots of bad things)

but explorer will start without the folder list

explorer.exe /e gets you the folder list

more options can be found here

And if you want to open a specific folder, you must specify it like this:

explorer.exe /n, p:myfolder

or

explorer.exe /n, serversharemyfolder
