New Windows do not open as full windows in IE7 (IE 7.0.5730.11)

When I first open IE it opens in a full window, e.g. Google search front page, or Woody's Lounge. When I do a search, the search comes back as a full page. If I go to one of the pages and click on a URL in that page, the Window only comes up at about 80 to 90 % display. This also happens when I am in a discussion forum such as Woody's Lounge, or one of the Photography forums I frequent. Is there something I have to set so each new window always comes up in 100% display. Surely, I don't have to continuously click on the display full page icon at the top right to get a 100% display, or is this another one of Microsoft's undocument features?

By full display I mean, URL content, tool bars, sliders as appropriate, etc.

Any insight will be appreciated. Thanks.

I think there are two separate issues here. First, new windows generally do not open maximized. To get them as close to maximized as possible, you can drag the window to fit. IE should remember this going forward. Second, windows generated by scripts (like the Smilies window) typically are drawn with a minimum set of menus, toolbars, scrollbars, etc. In IE, if you press Alt+N in this window, it usually will reload in a more full featured window, but often at a smaller size. So... I guess what I'm saying is, you can try, but you can't win. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

    Ron,
Give this little utility a try.
It worked like a champ for me when I was having similar windows sizing problems on some but not all screen displays.

    IEWINSIZE
