    Upgrade 2K to XP home?

I have inherited a laptop with Windows 2000 on it and I want to upgrade to XP. The home edition of XP lists Win 98 or ME as the version it will upgrade from. Has anyone sucessfully upgraded a Win 2K to XP home or do I need to go to XP pro? I'd rather not spend the extra $100 if I can avoid it - I probably don't need the extra bells and whistles that pro will give me.

    Any thoughts?

Take a look at what Paul Thurrott has to say on the subject.

If MSFT says that you can only upgrade to XP Home from 98/ME, believe them.
Even if there were an unofficial workaround, why ask for trouble?

I do not see anything in that article about upgrading from 2000 to XP Home.
