    re-enable db window (97)

removing all options from the startup menu will disallow my MDE file from opening anything behind the scenes, but I require code that will display the database window. I

Sorry, but that won't work with an MDE. There is NO way to show the database window in an MDE. That's one of the protections an MDE provides. Nor is there any reason to do so. MDE's, by definition, do not allow design changes, and that's the only reason for showing the database window.

Yes it will - I just checked. I put a button in one of my "play" databases to show the db window (using the method in the web page I cited), converted it to an MDE, and then tried the button.

Also, I tried changing the definition of a table in the MDE. That worked too. You can goof around with tables and queries in an MDE, you just can't change the forms, reports, or modules (which drastically cuts down on the usefulness of changing tables and queries! <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>).

    I think you're confusing run-time with MDE's.

You're right, I was thinking of runtime because that's the only place I ever use MDEs. Otherwise, they're an extra layer of complication.
