Is this the floppy required to store recovery data as mentioned in this article?

Hi Leif , Yes, that's the one. I want to do a full backup then a weekly or monthly incremental thereafter. I get confused with backup, ASR and restore points. Thanks again , Walt

I'm afraid I can't find any help on how to use ASR without a floppy disk/drive. I suspect that using alternative backup software - search the Software forum for Acronis True Image, for example - may be a better solution. I haven't come across anyone yet who recommends any flavour of MS Backup

...Have you tried using an USB-attached external floppy drive...

Interesting question, John. Since I have a pretty new Dell, I'll say that I have tried and I'm still working on it.

I bought one of these recently (USB External Floppy Plus Card Reader) because of the built-in media reader. The floppy and media reader work just fine, but I have yet to figure out to get the Dell to boot from the floppy. The Dell BIOS is pretty specific about the two steps and my computer still won't boot from the floppy. I admit I've only spent a couple of minutes on this non-problem, so it may work one day!
