    Displaying related data (2003)

    Have to say, this is a great site... really informative...

    Wish I knew more about access so I could get the most out of it, lol...

    referring back to the database I was having issues with yesterday (here: <post:=640,521>post 640,521</post:>)

    when I select a value in a combo box in the form "delivery log", I want to display information from the same table the combo box is using, in a seperate field on the form...

    to try and clarify this, if I have the following table:

    Name ........................Role

    John..............................Tea Maker
    Bob................................cleaner
    Bill.................................driver

    If I use the name filed in the combo box as a look-up, when I select "bob", I want to display "cleaner" in the next field...

    How would I do that then?

    Thanks for your help in advance...

    Re: Displaying related data (2003)

    Set the Row Source of the combo box to the name of the table.
    Set its Column Count to 2.
    Set its Column Widths property to <code>1";0"</code>.
    Set the Control Source of the text box in which you want to display the role to
    <code>
    =[NameOfComboBox].[Column](1)
    </code>
    Columns are counted starting at 0, so Column(1) is the hidden second column of the combo box.
