Automatically Update Styles (Word 2003)

Is there an easy way to go through all the styles in a template and check if the "automatically Update" is ticked and untick it if it is checked? I have many styles and it is painstakingly slow to check each one.

Re: Automatically Update Styles (Word 2003)

I would use a simple macro such as this...

Sub temp1()
Dim sSty As Style
On Error Resume Next
For Each sSty In ActiveDocument.Styles
sSty.AutomaticallyUpdate = False
Next sSty
End Sub

The Error ignore line is necessary to avoid the error which springs from styles which don't have an automatically update property eg Tables & List styles. The error could be avoided by adding other lines of code but the value of the effort is questionable. There is no need to check whether the setting is on first as you are going to turn it off anyway if it is.

Thanks Andrew. Seems to do the trick.
