Remove Year from the Date (Excel 2003)

    Hi Excel Experts,

I have a list of employees with their Date of Birth, now i need to extract only the date and month and not the year. Is there a formula or a way to get this data.

    Regards
    Baiju

If it is only for display purposes, you can apply a custom format to the cells with the birth dates, for example
mmmm d
to see March 27, or
d mmm
to see 27 Mar.

Another option is to use a formula. With a birth date in cell A2, the formula

    =TEXT(A2,"mmmm d")

will return text such as March 27.

Yet another option is to use separate formulas to extract the day and month. With a birth date in cell A2, the formula

    =MONTH(A2)

will return the month number (3 for March), and the formula

    =DAY(A2)

will return the day number (27 for today). All these formulas can be filled down if the birth dates are in a column.
