Display control (2007)

How can I change the display colors and fonts of the powerpoint window. I'm not referring to the SLIDE theme. I want to change the framing, fonts for menus and so forth that Powerpoint itself uses. I'm finding it really hard to read the soft pastel shades that Powerpoint is using by default.

Part of it is controlled by the Display Properties control panel (this applies to all programs, not just PopwerPoint). The rest is probably hard-coded.

    Re: Display control (2007)

Much of it appears to be hardcoded and it makes the window difficult to read. Various shades of gray, then put greyed out fonts on top of the underlying grey and you've got something that is a recipe for problems. There has to be a way to change this. I've tried messing with the Windows colors in the Display applet but this doesn't seem to have any effect. And to think that MS spent the majority of design time in Office 2007 on this eye candy and didn't think that they should provide a means of tailoring it to the users requirements? Sheese.

    Good morning,

I can't get to my machine running 2007 until tonight but I imagine it would work the same as in 2003 when you 'Right click' your desktop, choose properties and then 'Appearance', changing the colour scheme changes the toolbar colours etc. in PowerPoint.

    Hope that helps

Nope, works differently in 2007. See graphic here:

    Good morning

I had a dabble last night and it seems that there are only 3 schemes at the moment, the default blue, silver or black so perhaps one of the others may suit you for the time being, the can be accessed by

Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click PowerPoint Options.
Click Popular, and then click the Color scheme that you want.

    Hope that helps for now

    Re: Display control (2007)

The styles affect the slides, NOT the Powerpoint application colors. That's the problem. Maybe Microsoft forgot about this or maybe Office 2007 UI is too new and no one knows where everything is hidden yet.

(Edited by DaveA on 29-Mar-07 02:33. correct year error)
The Office 2007 colors are hard coded in the different styles. I think you will find some third party styles coming of soon.

Have you tried one of the other color styles for Office 2007?

I should have used the term "Color scheme " instead of styles. I did NOT have access to my Office 2007 and was trying to use the brain to see what the term was called.
