    Count rows (Excel 2003)

    Can some please show me how to do the following e.g. on column G there are 50 recordss and let say 30 of them are called Passed and twenty are called Failed, what would be the formula to count the number of failed as the spreadsheet is getting quite big?

    Many thanks,

    The formula
    <code>
    =COUNTIF(G:G,"passed")
    </code>
    returns the number of cells in column G that contain "passed". Similar for "failed".
