Using the 'F' keys for shortcuts (XP PRO)

    Howdy,
I thought once long ago, that you could assign different values to your F keys. I would like to create a shortcut say for my email address so when I press F4, it would auto populate a field on the internet that asks for you email address. The cobwebs upstairs prevent me from remembering how to do this. Any ideas? Thanks...

With today's "fancier" keyboards, I don't know how to program the function keys, BUT there are other software-driven ways to do what you want. See <post:=635,673>post 635,673</post:> and <post:=635,641>post 635,641</post:>.

I use QuicKeys to do exactly what you're after i.e. email, name and address, username, etc. Nick Thorp found the other one which I've not yet tried.

Haven't tried these, but one of these might do the job:
    ShortKeys Lite
    Skynergy - HotKeyz
AutoHotkey - Free Mouse and Keyboard Macro Program with Hotkeys and AutoText

A little utility I use is The Wonderful Icon. Small in size, big in features, and absolutely <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15>.

Nostalgia! I'd forgotten all about that one. Good to see it's still "alive".
