    Office XP Prof.

I am getting ready to install Office XP Professional on a machine running Office 2000 Professional / SR 1. I want to retain my 2000 apps for working with clients who are still using them. Can you point me to a KB articles or give me some instruction on how to do this or if it can be done?

    Thanks.

Do not install 2 versions of Office in the same bootable system.

    See article q218861.

I must have understood article <A target="_blank" HREF=http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q218/8/61.asp>Q218861</A> differently, Howard. What part are you referring to?

I understood this article differently also. I am not installing two operating systems, but want to retain Word 2000 as well as install Word 2002

I haven't tried it yet with XP, but it worked OK with Office 97 and Office 2000 as long as you read the knowledgebase articles closely and paid attention to what the install was actually doing.

    Re: Office XP Prof.

The article explicitly points out some of the problems caused by installing 2 versions of Office in the same OS.

The problems are actually worse than stated.

    With a little forethought and planning, I didn't find them to be much trouble at all. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>
