    Query and Memo Field (03)

I have an account table that contains a memo field associated with somone's billing account. The memo field may or may not include text depending upon the situation.

My challenge is within a query. After joining two tables I would like to total on the account but also display the memo field. The results aggregate the amounts correctly but do not bring into the query the text of the memo field.

    Your suggestions are appreciated.

Can you explain the structure of the two tables joined in the query and which of them has the memo field. Perhaps you could post a cut don db with just these two tables, the query and a few lines of data.
    Regards
    John

    John,

I have attached a sample database which depicts the issue I am having with the query. If you run the query, notice the results in the "Notes" field.

    1) The join in your query is incorrect - it should either be an inner join or a left join, not a right join. To chage this, double click the join line and select one of the other options.

    2) Since your query is a totals query, the memo field will be truncated to 255 characters.. You can avoid this by creating two queries: a totals query based on tblData with only bill_num and the sum of the tax, and another query based on that one that includes all fields from tblAccounts and the sum of the tax from the query. See the attached version.
