FP.MSI and SP3 (2002)

To finish installing Service Pack 3 it asks me to install my Front Page 2002 disk to find FP.MSI. Well, there is no FP.MSI on the Front Page 2002 disk. The installation package is names FP11.MSI. I have found others on various other forums around the net having the same problem and every other forum seems to be stumped. Does anyone here have any ideas? I already sent an e-mail support request to Microsoft and got back canned stuff that was not at all helpful. Actually it wasn't even relevant.

Desperate times call for desperate measures

Is there any chance you can copy the Front Page 2002 disk to your local drive and rename the FP11.MSI to FP.MSI and see what happens when you navigate to that folder. This is a complete shot in the dark

Been there, done that. And I didn't get the t-shirt . That would have been way too simple. Microsoft must take pride in making things difficult sometimes.

Is your FP2002 CD an upgrade version by any chance?

If so, check Service Pack 3 missing FP.MSI - you need to read from the bottom of the thread upwards to get it in context.

Nope. Full edition. It is an academic edition, though as I am also a professor. I know it is valid as I got it either from www.JourneyEd.com or www.CCVSoftware.com I don't remember which as I don't remember when I got it. I used Journey Ed until I found out that CCV was much cheaper.

Re: FP.MSI and SP3 (2002)

Hi There

Well it appears you have covered a few bases including our suggestions so I'll add a couple and hope there will be some you haven't tried

1) Try installing the full version of the SP3 update for your system (assuming XP) Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)

2) Try a repair install of Office XP MSKB 304498

The reson I am suggesting these items as it is quite a common problem and sometimes indicative of an installation of FrontPage after and installation of XP or other Office package

You are obviously aware of the issue on some of the forums and the fact FP.MSI is not on the installation disk, you could however have a look in the root folder of the installation disc (just in case)

I hope that helps
Jerry
