    Shutdown (XP Home SP2)

When I want to turn off my computer I have to do "Start" "Turnoff" twice before it will shutdown. The first time I do it it just seems to totally ignore shutting down. Is this a know problem with a fix of some sort?

    Thanks

Do you have Skype? There are some reports that ending the SkypePM.exe process in Task Manager will take care of the problem.

You might also take a look at Windows XP Shutdown Troubleshooter although that doesn't explicitly mention your problem (I think)

Also: as a temporary workaround, you can create a shortcut on your desktop with following command:

    shutdown -s -f -t 0

(Shut Down, force all running processes to close, no delay)

Yes I do have Skype. I'll look into that plus your other link.

Thank you. I will create that shortcut and give it a try also. I take it I just type it or copy it as you have it here.
