    parallel to usb connection

New Dell systems do not have a parallel port. I have helped one fellow to hook a parallel printer to his new Dell with a "parrallel to usb" connector. A lady I am helping has a sewing card reader that connects to a parallel port. Will the "parallel to usb" connection work with the card reader?

Sorry, but I would be amazed if anyone has met (or even heard of!) a "sewing card", so I suspect it's a "try it and see" job...

    So I assume that you're an old sew-and-sew... <img src=/S/granny.gif border=0 alt=granny width=20 height=20> <img src=/S/witch.gif border=0 alt=witch width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

    Re: parallel to usb connection

I too have heard of those devices... my mother has a wing-ding of a sewing machine that would probably do the Christmas Dinner dishes if you could program it correctly.

Sadly however, I have no knowledge if such an interface would work.

I can think back to some mice I've used in the past (both serial 9 pin, and PS/2), and when connected to the changing devices, they did not function.

I can suggest however, going to a local PC shop, or even eBay and search for an add-on PC expansion card.
