I believe that the custom size is a setting you can set for the printer, rather than in Access. So go to Printer and Faxes and look at the properties of the Printer.
this is what it looks like for my Brother.

Re: Setting page size (2003 SP2)

Thanks John. I did that and it worked.
But I guess that there is only one custom paper size I can use. Which is unfortunate if I ever want to print to another size.

Re: Setting page size (2003 SP2)

This might depend on the Printer, but when I create a "User Defined" size, I give it a name and it gets added to the list of sizes. I then create others with different sizes and names.

Yeah, but to have it work without user input I think you still have to set the Access dialog to 'Custom' and there is only one of those. Or have I missed something?

I'm off to Sydney at sparrow squeak tomorrow, so won't be around for 3 days to read replies.

Does this mean you want to set it in VBA code?

Hi Hans. Setting it in VBA code would be wonderful.

Although you can use code like this:

    Reports!NameOfReport.Printer.PaperSize = acPRPSEnvC5

it doesn't do anything when I try it. I think creating the custom paper size in Windows and using it in Access would be the way to go.

I did some more experimenting, but the results aren't hopeful. Although I found code to set a custom paper size, the report simply ignores it. Only the listed paper sizes work.

Thanks all for you efforts to solve this problem. There must be tens of thousands of others who have to create workarounds due to this Access deficiency.
I have temporarily worked around the problem by using the printers one and only

This is partly a deficiency in your Cannon printer. For my Brother I can create as many additional paper sizes as a I like.

Spot on John. But it still doesn't detract from MS's slackness in not providing for this basic feature. After all Access has been around for a long time.

Re: Setting page size (2003 SP2)

Access does not know what size paper you actually putting into the printer, so you might be able to work around this by using a paper size that is different from your envelopes, and adjusting the position and margins so that things print in the right place.

I have just done a little experiment, where I printed on DL envelopes (110mm x 220mm) with a report formatted for B6 paper.
