Clean install old directory (Vista Ultimate)

I did a total clean install of Vista. I noted the procedure created a new directory in the C: root that holds info from the old XP installation, including data/documents. After a period of confidence in the new installation of Vista, Office 2007, and re-installation of certain other programs, is there any reason to NOT delete this directory and all of its contents?

    Thanks for your response(s).

Yes you can delete it after you are completely satisfied that you no longer need it. Follow the steps in this article .

That sure worked. Thank you very much!

That also looks like a great web site resource.

    Ron,

Are you SURE you did a "total clean install"? If you did, then the drive would have been formatted and anything and everything on that drive/partition would have been wiped clean. AFAIK, the only way to end up with the previous O/S backup files in those two new folders is if you do an "in place" (upgrade) installation. Just curious...

Yes, I did a total clean install - wanted to because I had so many XP and Office corruptions. Apparently, from what I could tell (and I could be wrong) it worked, reformatting. Unexpectedly it created a directory - if I recall - called "Old Windows." Don't ask me how that is possible but I am fairly sure it was a clean install.

The procedure recommended above to remove the stuff worked and now it is gone.

I know - how did it hold on to all that program and data info while it was reformatting the drive? I have no idea.
