Remove some Office XP Programs (Office XP Pro with Frontpage)

There are parts of Office XP Pro that I never use and I would like to uninstall everything but Word. Add or Remove Program will only let me remove the whole program or repair.
What is the process for a partial removal? I have the CD. Can Word be installed as a stand-alone program, if I remove the complete program?

    1. Click Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (or click Start > Run, type APPWIZ.CPL and hit Enter).

    2. Wait until "Currently installed programs" list will be populated, scroll it down and select (click on) "Microsoft Office XP Professonal" program.

    3. "Change" and "Remove" buttons appear. Click "Change". (If you see "Repair" and "Uninstall", click "Repair".)

    4. Windows Installer will activate Office Setup. Wait until "Microsoft Office Setup" window appears and choose "Add or Remove Features". Click Next.

    5. "Features to install" list will appear. Click on each rectangle icon on the left of application you don't want (Excel, Powerpoint, etc) and from pop-up menu select "Not Available". After you finish, click Update button.

    6. Follow the wizard.

    Good luck!

Sorry, I did not see your second question. If you choose fully uninstall Microsoft Office, you can install Word only. Just choose Customize during setup routine and deselect all applications as described in p.5

    Gloria,
Don't know what email program you are using, but if it's Outlook, don't remove it (it is part of Office).

I'm using Outlook Express and it's not a part of Office.

My, what a perfect explaination. You should write a book and include the directions you just gave me. Even someone who knows almost nothing about computers could follow those directions. I have printed them and will keep them in case some of my less wiser friends need some help with doing the same thing.

It went smooth as silk, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Front Page and Outlook for Windows is gone.

Thank you so much, I hope to hear from you again someday when I need help. It wasn't luck that helped me, it was you.
