    Signature Line Spacing (2003)

    Hello everyone,

I get additional line space sometimes when a signature is automatically inserted, particularly in my message reply situations.

In Outlook 2003, I am using Word 2003 as my message editor, creating in Rich Text format. I created signatures in the Tools | Options | Mail Format tab, then Create Signature dialog box.

The signature created originally looks like thus:
    Abraham Lincoln
    802 West Elm Street
    Springfield, IL 62701

But sometimes, when inserted it looks thus: [And I don't want it to do this] (Note the leading space before my name!)

    Abraham Lincoln

    802 West Elm Street

    Springfield, IL 62701

Anyone have any idea what is causing this, and how I might prevent it from happening?

    Thanks so much,
    Rich

Try this: edit the HTML version of your signature using "Shift-Return" instead of "Return" between lines - "Shift-Return" provides an HTML line break instead of an HTML new paragraph.

Not sure what you mean by an arrow. Are you using Word as your mail editor? In Word, a "manual line break" is indicated with a symbol similar to the one on the Enter key instead of a paragraph mark.
