    Clerical permissions in Active Directory

I want to give one of the sectretarial staff sufficient permissions to open Active Directory Users and Computers, and update the information in AD Users and Computers (Title, telephone, get the name right, that sort of thing).

Of course, I want to give them _only_ those rights, and no others.

Where would I begin to look for information on doing this sort of thing? (In Netware, they are called "roles")

    Thanks!

Looks like pretty much exactly what I want to do is in this article http://mcpmag.com/columns/article.asp?EditorialsID=617

As I suspected, the process is needlessly and teeth gratingly convoluted and over complicated. <img src=/S/disappointed.gif border=0 alt=disappointed width=15 height=15>

    Jim,

Have you tried creating a Group with the permissions required, and then adding the staff to the group?
