Setting a value into a combo box (Access 2003 SP2)

Going on from the last question, i have a search form with a combobox that has a list of ControlNames that appear on the form.

Can i get the Control Source of a control on the form and store it into the combobox and have the combox find the appropriate entry, if you understand what i'm talking about. Please let me know if you want a better explanation.

    Thought you might say that.

When you select an entry in a combobox you can see what was chosen in the AfterUpdate event of the combobox. Is there a way to select a control name that is in the combobox (say by clicking a control and getting its name) and forcing the AfterUpdate event of the combobox to fire with the name of ther selected control.

If you cannot understand this then i will simiulate the combobox's AfterUpdate in another way.

Perhaps it would help if you could explain what you're trying to accomplish, instead of concentrating on the technical details. As it is, it makes no sense to me.

Fair enough, i have solved my problem though.

What i wanted to do was to supply an entry i know is in the combobox source (table or query in this case) and simulate as though i have used the manual way of choosing an entry in the combo box. All i need do in fact is to populate the combobox with the name of an entry in it's list and it seems to work.
