Outlook on a drive other than C: (2003)

Outlook on a drive other than C:

I now keep all my personal files on a separate partition, which makes backing them up much easier. I also want to include my Outlook information in this backup.

Is it possible to have all files that Outlook uses located on a partition/drive other than C:?

I have searched both this forum and Microsoft but must have asked the wrong questions, as so far, I could find no help.

I would welcome guidance as to how to set up Outlook with its files on a partition other than C: Would it matter if this partition was on a network server? Or would the complications of a network add difficulty?

You mention a network server. Are you using Outlook on Exchange server, or stand-alone?

Using Account Settings, you can manage where your pst or ost file are stored. I don't know if you can change the location of the other Outlook files such as .nk2, .fav. But, seeAsk the Performance Team : Network Stored PST files ... don't do it! for other considerations about the pst file.

Thanks to you all for your suggestions.

Plenty of references to get my teeth into.

See also my experience in <post#=563,487>post 563,487</post#>; I have added to that experience by now being a permanent VPN remote user. Many companies prefer that the PST be on the network for record keeping and backup reasons; performance is quite acceptable when the user is on a local server. But remote PST access performance by either WAN or VPN is abysmal, and will be regretted.
