Showing As New

How come every so often when I log in all (literally) of my Watched Threads will show as having new activity when in fact they do not?

And it seems to clear this, I need to go to each item individually -- or do I need to do this?

Regards,
Chuck Billow

See this thread ( <post:=629,341>post 629,341</post:> ) for some similar observations. So far, Claude has not commented on whether he's had time to look at it, but if he doesn't I think we'll all have to chalk it up as one of the pitfalls of working with VERY GOOD, but somewhat "band aid'ed" Lounge software and truck onward... For most of us, it's infrequent enough to be only a minor annoyance.

No question... Just nice to at least know if I am going nuts, or ...

Al,
Just for informational purposes:

The problem I mentioned in that thread has been cured by Claude shortly after he returned from the business trip he was on at that time. ( at least so far as the particular circumstances I mentioned )
Possibly this is something similar to what Chuck is talking about but I'm working fine now.

Re: Showing As New

Hi Chuck,

One trick I have learnt with the Lounge and that is to clear my Cookies from your cache ever so often, I seem to remember the phrase from one of the Admin many moons ago "It sounds like your cookie has crumbled". I thought it a rather nice term, so nice, I use it now.

So an interim solution is to clean out your cookies and let <!profile=Lex>Lex<!/profile> the Lounge lizard give you a new one.

Also one that tends to muck things up is the over zealous use of the backspace button to navigate back a few pages. I have learnt to press F5 ever so often just so Lex doesn't lose count, I note he is invariably on his 20th Martini by about 10.00pm

Just some ideas.

Jerry:

Thanks, I'll give that a shot... I'm not really sure how long after one of my (numerous) system "re-setups" I seem to see this... I'll try to track it next time.

Oh gosh, keep to my mantra when it comes to PC's then "Don't mend what's not broken" (including bad grammar if it gets the message across)

Now Jerry:

Although your point is certainly well-taken, there are those that undoubtedly said the same type of thing to the mongrels that were messing around with computers in the 70's and 80's.

So us trouble-making ants-in-our-pants ingrates just keep slogging along....

This could end up in a totally philosophical discussion, but I will leave it here as mending and breaking are not necessarily the same as improving and adapting.

Totally true Jerry.

I should keep that in mind more often than I do, perhaps.
