I can't get Vista to support a third monitor (Vista Home Premium)

I just got a new AlienWare Area-51 7500 PC with Windows Vista preloaded. The video card supplied, NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT, supports one each digital and analog output ports, and my first two monitors are working fine. To activate the second monitor as an extension (to the right) of the first one, I did what I did in XP: right-click on the desktop, select properties (now personalize), select Display Settings, and select the settings and position of the screen marked 2.

In Windows XP when I added another video card, a third monitor box appeared labeled 3, which I again could select the settings and position. Under Vista, which I hear (from informed sources) can support up to 32 monitors, this, for me, isn't working. When I moved the second video card from the old PC to the new one, Device Manager (right-click Computer, then Properties) shows both the first card supporting the first two monitors and a second new card labeled "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter." However, Display Settings (right-click desktop, personalize...) still shows only monitors one and two plus the primary video card listed twice. I can find no way to activate the third one.

Suspecting Vista driver issues, I accessed the NVIDIA web site and found that their latest Vista driver for the 7 series of cards was released today. It's installer is named
158.18_force ware_WinVista_32bit_english.exe . Downloading and installing the new drivers made no difference.

Can someone please tell me how to activate a third monitor?

    Thank you,

    John Littell

Thank you. I learned enough from that article to order a light weight companion card that uses the same driver.
