    Count.... (2003 SP2)

    Stupid question, but I can't find the answer. How do you count the number of cells that contain a particular character?

    BTW the character can only appear once in a cell.

    Cell? Is this question about Excel or about Access?

    I moved the thread to the Excel forum.
    Say that you want to know how many cells in the range A2:B10 contain the letter w. The following formula will return the count:
    <code>
    =COUNTIF(A2:B10,"*w*")</code>
