    Problem with dynamic chart (2003 SP2)

    I'm trying to create a dynamic chart (the data range could be from 12 records to 12,000 records!).

    I've fallen at the first hurdle. I've created an 'offset' data range, but when ever I try to use it for data values, I get an error message about 'invalid references'.

    Example file attached.

    1) You must use absolute cell references in the definition of the dynamic range, otherwise the definition will shift with the active cell:
    <code>
    =OFFSET(AA4Chart!$J$41,1,0,COUNTA(AA4Chart!$J$42:$ J$65536),1)
    </code>
    2) You must specify what the name belongs to when using it as the value range for a series:
    <code>
    ='Woodys.xls'!YieldV
    </code>
    You can enter
    <code>
    =AA4Chart!YieldV
    </code>
    but Excel will automatically change it, since YieldV is global to the workbook, not local to the worksheet.
