    No Menu or Tool Bars (HTML)

    We want to open a browser based program without toolbars and menu bars from a desktop shortcut. For testing we had the following link.

    <pre><A onclick="window.open
    ('NextWindow.aspx','','titlebar=yes,toolbar=no,men ubar=no,status=yes,
    scrollbars=yes,copyhistory=no, resizable=yes')" href="#">
    [img]images/Logo.jpg[/img]</A></pre>

    During testing it was OK if it opened a second browser but for production we would like to reuse the original browser.

    For the desktop shortcut we played with

    I think this question will get a better response in the general HTML forum so i shall move it there now...

    Hi Sadie

    Here is a little method that works. Open a notepad document and paste in this code:

    Set objExplorer = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
    objExplorer.Navigate "http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/wwwthreads.pl?Cat="
    objExplorer.ToolBar = 0
    objExplorer.StatusBar = 0
    objExplorer.Width = 800
    objExplorer.Height = 600
    objExplorer.Left = 0
    objExplorer.Top = 0
    objExplorer.Visible = 1

    and save it as mysite.vbs note the extension

    This will open Woody's Lounge in a 800 x 600 window. I think the code is pretty self explanatory for you to adapt to your needs. You could put this script in a shared folder if you want and then create a shortcut to all users...hope that helps

    Hi Sadie

    If you want it in a web page use this code:

    Moved to text file by Jezza as code conflicts with Lounge software

    Re: No Menu or Tool Bars (HTML)

    How can I save the attachment? It does not function like other attachments in the lounge [i.e. that I can save the file to my hard drive]...I wanted to "see" the code and when I click on the attachment another IE window opens with the text of Woodys Lounge. When I click on Woodys Lounge text, it opens another IE window without the toolbar, status bar, etc. and the home page of Woodys Lounge is displayed. Is the code in this post different from the code posted in 646475 [i.e. code used to create a vbs file]? I would like to use the code in a web page and really wanted to see the code in this post. Any ideas? THANKS.

    Right click on the link (the word Attachment) and select 'Save Target As'.

    Re: No Menu or Tool Bars (HTML)

    Thanks but I did that too...I get the htm file saved to my hard drive..when I click on it, IE opens with the text of Woodys Lounge and when I click the text, a second IE window opens with the home page of the lounge. My question is "how" can I "see" the code Jerry used in post 646480 to generate this action from the attachment? THANKS.

    Right-click the file you have downloaded and open it with Notepad.
    Or open it (in IE), right-click an empty part of the page and select View Source.

    Hans,
    Thanks...the notepad suggestion worked. When I tried the right click in IE..I get all the source code for the Lounge home page....I guess not knowing what I was looking for..I couldn't tell Jerry's code from the Woodys HTML page code. But using notepad gave me only Jerry's code. Many thanks for the suggestion! Take care.

    Oops. Sorry, I was looking at the wrong post of Jezza's. The post following the one you replied two had the code as an attachment. Anyway, glad you got it figured out.

    Re: No Menu or Tool Bars (HTML)

    Sorry Jim

    I have been out most of the day and evening so couldn't help you in your time of need but it looks like you have been looked after. In Firefox the text attachments can be viewed immediately so I tend to forget you poor IE users <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

    I seem to remember that it is sometimes best to zip up text files to get around that issue..I hope it was useful.

    Sorry for taking so long to get back. I got tied up on other stuff. This looks like it will work great.
