# Thread: Minimum of a Date (all)

1. ## Minimum of a Date (all)

hello,

i have a list of projectdates and my problem is to get out the minimum date of a single subphase for in this list i have single entries for each resource of our staff.
does anyone know how to get this out (using dbmin or something else)??

You can place this formula in M2 and confirm with Ctrl+Shift+Enter since it is an array formula:

=MIN(IF(\$C\$2:\$C\$34=\$L2,E\$2:E\$34))

You can fill this down to M7, then right to column N. Format M2:N7 as dates.
You'll get incorrect answers in M6 and N6 since there are no data for subcode 500.

See attached version.

hi hans,

thanks for your answer, the formula gives back the date for all subphases with number 100, 200, 300, &so on.
i was not as precise as i should be, it should return the minimum value of all entries for one subphase in a project, 5111 e.g.
that is much more difficult, as i tried to link the projectcode to the code from the subphase. if i try to, the formula gives back 0 (0.1.1900)..

Try this array formula. It also leaves the cell blank if there are no data for the project and subphase.
<code>
=IF(SUM((\$A\$2:\$A\$34=\$K\$2)*(\$C\$2:\$C\$34=\$L2))=0,"",M IN(IF((\$A\$2:\$A\$34=\$K\$2)*(\$C\$2:\$C\$34=\$L2),E\$2:E\$34) ))
</code>
See attached version.
