Thanks for the heads up, Tony. Everyone should be aware that (right now) their download process is quite messed up. Too lengthy to explain - just watch what you're doing. Example, clicking TUCOWS for Irfanview brings up the pages for downloading plugins...

I couldn't get it to download from any of the TUCOWS sites, but CNET worked the first time.

C/Net is where I went to get the app and FileForum for the plugins. Maybe is was just TUCOWS. I got page not found errors and the like, for several servers I went to.

    Re: IrfanView 4.0

Once again, may I digress a little into the program's use? I've only used IrfanView on a very limited basis in the past but I'm trying to get more "into" it of late. My old, old favorite SuperJPG is a dead duck as I've mentioned in The Lounge before and I used to use it to make "quick" web pages of photos. In order to replace it, I recently installed the Faststone Image Viewer mentioned in <post:=645,072>post 645,072</post:> but it doesn't have the abiliity to create web pages - at least not that I've found so far.

IrfanView does a pretty good job on it creating a base that could easily be enhanced with an HTML editor. I just went through a couple of practice runs and was wondering if any others of you have done so as well. My question is: how many thumbs is good for the horizontal width so as not to cause scrolling? The default is 9 but I think that's way too wide for most people. I have a 19" LCD at 1,280 pixels wide and 9 thumbnails fills up the screen. What's a good number?

    Al,

Just an attempt at some humor. Two thumbs for most of us - one for each hand.

    Huh?

Here's a sample where I changed the 9 to a 5 and it (obviously) seems to be a tad too narrow.

    Billy's Soccer Season

Added: This one at 9-wide. Is the page viewable without horizontal scrolling? Billie & Al's Wedding & Honeymoon

<img src=/S/hmmn.gif border=0 alt=hmmn width=15 height=15> Same here. The main application I had to goto CNet, but I was able to get the plug-ins from tucows.

    Re: IrfanView 4.0

    Hi Tony!

Thanks for that! This version isn't much of a helpful improvement over older ones for my ooold system, but it's still nice to see that they made it to 4.0. I still make do with version 3.36 which doesn't even need to be installed (runs from within a folder) and has most of the basic functions that make IView such a great program.
