    Outlook (98)

In Outlook 98 (I have Windows ME), as I'm typing a message and want to insert a word, for no reason at all it goes into "overtype" instead of "insert". I'm using Microsoft Outlook Rich Text format. Can't find any solution to this problem. Please help!

    >>and want to insert a word,

What exactly do you mean by that? How are you "inserting" a word?

Typing a sentence, going back and placing the cursor in front of the word where I want to insert another word, and I start typing. Instead of inserting, it starts to overtype the letters in front of it.

And you solemnly swear on a stack of Bibles that you or someone near you and your keyboard did not now nor in the recent past, press the Ins key on the numeric keypad? Mr. Race, just answer the question, Yes or No?

No, I can't solemnly swear. Truthfully, it's my boss who is having the problem, and it's just possible she could have done that. Thanks for the info Kevin. I'll check it out with her (I solemnly swear)!!
