    Page Issue (Windows XP)

I would like to have my page numbers start on the third page of my document, but i want the third page to say that it is page 1. i have already tried using the formula: { IF { PAGE } > 2 "{ PAGE }" "" } then using a formula to decrease the page numbers by 2, but the first formula cannot be recognized. I have spent four hours on this problem now and have completely run out of ideas. Now the first page of my document reads: 1, the second page reads: 2, third page reads: -1- (probably b/c i've put in a section break). But I don't understand why, with a section break in place, Word won't let me deal separately with these sections. This is to be published soon so I need a solution ASAP. Thanks.

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

If you have added a section break at the end of page 2, you should be able to do what you want.
    - Select View | Header and Footer.
    - If your page numbers are in the footer, click the "Header or Footer" button on the toolbar to switch to the footer.
    - Click the "Show Next" button on the toolbar to move to the second section.
    - Make sure that the "Same as Previous" button on the toolbar is off.
    - Click the "Format Page Number" button on the toolbar.
    - Click "Start at" and make sure that the box next to it contains 1.
    - Click OK.
    - Click the "Show Previous" button on the toolbar to move back to the first section.
    - Delete the page number.

I suspect that you have inadvertently turned on "Same as Previous" in the second section.
