Make XP look like Vista.

Not planning on changing to Vista yet or at all?
You can at least make XP LOOK like Vista visually and have a few of the Vista features without a expensive change.
It's called Vista Transformation Pack

Check out VISTA LOOK ALIKE

Here is the list of things it will Vista-ize on XP:

Boot screen
Welcome Screen / Logon Screen
New msstyles files (visual styles)
New desktop and file icons
New toolbar icons
Progress Dialogs
Sounds scheme
System Tray icons
New Wallpapers
Windows Media Player Skins
And much more

I 've had it installed on my machine for a whille and even tested the ability to roll back to standard XP using AddRemove. Works fine.

Well, it's senility evidently. I looked at the title of the link and assumed it was something different.

Bob,

I installed it the day you posted this, withholding my opinion for time to evaluate, and I must say - it's nice. No noticeable impact on computer speed, and it immediately wow'd my Mrs.

Re: Make XP look like Vista.

I have tried to download this 4 times and keep getting the same error! Could it be that I don't have WinZip?
No I know better than that!!!.. I finally was able to download it from Major Geeks Don't know why I wasn't able to from Softpedia
The only thing I have noticed that I am not sure of is that when I cursor over the icons in the taskbar is that the name of what that icon is, shows so fast and then disappears that I can't see it. Must be a setting I need to change.
Thanks John

Re: Make XP look like Vista.

1) Make sure that you have the latest version 6.0, which you can get at the link I provided, which is the "home" of Vista Transformation Pack.

2) The "mouseover" anomaly is a known issue. See the following:

- General information: Vista Transformation Pack Forum

- Tooltip problem addressed: VTP FAQ

Why do my tooltips disappear faster than normal?
This is a known bug with Visual Tool Tips. We recommend you reinstall from another official source or install Visual Task Tips, which is a better alternative.

Re: Make XP look like Vista.

thanks Jeff, but that isn't the problem. I downloaded that and installed anyway. The problem is that the name tags on the icons in the task bar and start up and what disappear so fast. When I mouse over say the WMP icon it sin't showing me what it is.
Thanks John

Re: Make XP look like Vista.

John,

Sorry the information isn't relevant. I can't offer any personal help since I am running Vista and therefore have no need for the Vista Transformation Pack. The only thing I can suggest is that you do a search on the Vista Transformation Pack forum and see if any of the results do apply. If that fails, then perhaps it might be prudent to post your probem there and see if someone has experience the same issue and has a fix for it.

Hi John

I have decided to keep away from this little application, not because I am a killjoy, but I have read some of the feedback and blogs on it...I decided to err on the side of caution
