Macro to generate Index? (XP / Word 2003)

Does anyone know a way to generate an index list by opening up numerous word documents from the same folder and pulling out the marker entries in each document?

This is basically the same as your other question (<post:=647,824>post 647,824</post:>) - by inserting RD fields that refer to the external documents, you can create a multi-document index. Instead of (or in addition to) adding a TOC, use this:

    ' Insert Index field
    docNew.Fields.Add rng, wdFieldIndex, "e " & Chr(34) & _
    vbTab & Chr(34) & " c " & Chr(34) & "2" & Chr(34) & _
    " z " & Chr(34) & "1033" & Chr(34)
