Thumbnail pic's not showing (Xp Media Center2005 SP2)

Hello, in My Videos file in My Documents, I used to be able to see a picture thumb nail of the movie, now I cannot it will only show a what looks like a film strip with AVI written in it.
I know this may be trivial but I liked the old look. It's probably something really dumb that I am missing, but any help would be appreciated. I tried a number of right clicking and changing from details to thumb nails and vice versa but no luck.
I have Nero 7 Ultra installed, but don't know if that's the problem.
Thanks for any help...jim

Not sure if this will help but it won't hurt either:
If you don't already have it, download & install TweakUI XP from Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP.
Start TweakUI and select the Repair category.
Make sure that "Rebuild Icons" is selected in the dropdown list, then click "Repair Now".
You may have to reboot before you see the effect.

Post back if this doesn't help.

Does this help?

- Select Start | Run...
- Type (or copy/paste)

regsvr32 shmedia.dll

- Press Enter or click OK.

This could be something to do with Nero. Have you just installed Nero? I remember having a similar problem when I installed Nero 6 but can't for the life of me remember how I altered it (sorry not much help to you I realise!) What I do know is that selecting the thumbnail view shows the little picture in all formats I have of my stored videos i.e. WMV + MPEG ...BUT NOT AVI... likewise it's a film strip with AVI written on it. So can you see any thumbs of WMV videos? Someone here is bound to know the solution to this I'm sure.

Thanks Jeff, Hans fixed it for me.
I think it might have been something with Nero, I reconfigured Nero not to take everything over like it always wants to and for now my trivial problem is solved. :-)

I'm glad it's solved.

Speaking of pictures, I noticed that your user picture is slightly distorted. The Lounge resizes pictures to 65 pixels wide by 75 high. Your picture is 128 x 189, with a different ratio between width and height. I have attached a cropped version that has the correct ratio. If you wish, you can use it, otherwise - no problem.
